Organizing in Education
This interactive panel will discuss current anti-racist organizing efforts throughout King County and the region that support Pacific Islander students and families in elevating their voices for change. You will hear from other stakeholders who will share their perspective on building a movement for education in a multi-ethnic community and why it’s important that young people’s voices are involved in the work!!!
- Participants will have an understanding of anti-racist organizing.
- Participants will gain information on other regional efforts supporting Pacific Islander students and families.
- Participants will network and connect to other potential education-focused resources.
Facilitator: Sili Savusa
- Sili Savusa is currently the Executive director of the White Center Community Development Association, which promotes authentic resident leadership opportunities and community-led, neighborhood initiatives. She also serves on the Highline Community College Board of Trustees, the Governor’s Commission on Closing the Achievement Gap and South Seattle Community College API Advisory Committee. As a long time education advocate, Sili has over 20 years of experience in anti-racist community organizing, policy development, cross cultural coalition building, and mobilizing communities for social justice. Sili and her family reside in White Center, Seattle.
